Park Policies were developed by the BOPC Advisory Council through the Winter and Spring of 2003 as a set of guidelines for the maintenance and operations of the Buffalo Olmsted Parks System. Through a series of monthly meetings policy items were identified and recommendations adopted by the members of the council.
The recommendations were bases on horticultural research of academic institutions and best practices of elite parks organizations around the country. The creation of these policies holds those maintaining the park to the highest standards in the management of the landscape, as well imbeds the expectation of the park users to respect the parks as public space for the enjoyment of all people.
